Hand painted yarn for the soul

This is me

knitting: a method of constructing fabric by interlocking a series of loops of one or more yarns

zen: a religion, a philosophy, or simply a practice depending on one's perspective

What is the sound of one knitter knitting?

It's about yarn, it's about the people, it's about knitting in public in a peak oil society.

And about being a Sexy Knitter - it's not just for grandmas!

It's also about sharing the love by having a free pattern for your edification (but not profit):

    New yarns, and moving on

Hi! I am going to move this here blog to blogsome in the new year - blogdrive really is irritating to use, and frustrating at times to get to load. So off to another provider I go. This blog will stay here fawevah though!

I have new yarn for sale on ebay - 10 different colourways, including laceweight yarn, and some yummy sexy slinky alpaca. As soon as my packages arrive from Virginia Farms, I will be dyeing a whole heap more yarn as well - more sock yarn, lots of 8 ply, and more alpaca. Colourway suggestions are welcome!

    Christmas is early here!!!

First up I have to say that my Sockret pal is SPOILING ME TO PIECES but my bad mojo with computers continues. A few months ago, I snapped the powercord on my Dell. So I had to go to using my Fujitsu, which I'd bought a few years ago as a travelling laptop. But about a week ago, the wireless card and the speakers went on the fritz and so my baby laptop was of no use to me, as this ALSO meant that even the network cable was petulantly refusing to play nice. So for a week I was sans computer except for the small bits my sweetpea let me have on his computer. (As an aside yes I'll have to buy a new one instead of a scooter, sadly)

Then to top it off I got some flu/laryngitis which made me crawl into bed last Thursday and only climb out on Monday afternoon. Actually that's not true - I suffered through Saturday at work (8 hours retail!) with no voice and practically hallucinating with illness. Saturday night we hosted a party for the concert I couldn't sing in cry and I spent Sunday and Monday in bed as a result. Not fun.

But at some point in there (I can't remember when!) I got another SOCKRET PAL PACKAGE!!!!!!!! And I opened it and burst into tears because it was SO PERFECT AND AMAZING and yes i'm typing in capitals a lot as my voice still isn't 100%!

The packet contained tiny fish which are cheddar flavoured and ruled by a pretzel:

A book that I covetted and now that I've read, thinks it's a piece of crap:

An ironic copy of the magazine that shall remain nameless due to them screwing my subscription up three times:

The best red licorice evah - I love this stuff!!!

The best part of this gift is the Knitpicks needles which, ironically enough, replace the needles which I can only find 4 of now... at this stage of unwrapping my package, I wondered if my pal had been spying on me!

    Some hard-to-find Kool-Aid for dyeing!!!

Amazing little tags to sew into things I knit for people:

AMAZING YARN MORE MORE EEEE LOOK AT THE COLOURS!!!!

And some cool notecards which I know I'll use a lot:

    December reading

Hi guys! It's early December so I thought I'd suggest some reading for
those of us with time on our hands ;).

YARNmagazine - Issue 5 has come out! It's a fantastic read and there's a great selection of ads in there if you're searching for something for a knitter for Christmas. My itty bitty ad is in there too this issue!

Magknits has come out with a great selection this month! This magazine is a monthly online one you can read at your leisure! Lots of great patterns in the archives as well.

Knitty is yet to come out with its winter edition but I love to read the whole thing when it does come out, and print out a few patterns for knitting later ;).

Spins and needles -  is pretty interesting and an Australian online 'print' magazine to boot!

    Bendigo Mills website

I have started a petition to encourage Bendigo Mills to get a website - please go here and sign it and share it with your friends so that we can show our beloved yarn supplier how seriously we want it!

"Australian knitters are putting out the call - we want our favourite yarn vendor to get a website! We have been hearing for years that they are building a website and so this petition has been started to count the number of knitters who WANT that website up, now!

Just a website to point people to would vastly improve the access knitters in this country have to some of the BEST yarns available. It would allow knitters to look at garments knit with certain yarns, and see the jumpers and patterns and other things that Bendigo sells that aren't available without a long, STD priced phonecall.

Please put your name to this petition so that we can show them that we REALLY, REALLY want this website up! An online presence would help in a lot of ways, and it doesn't even have to be a fully functioning e-tail site to start with."
