New yarns, and moving on

Hi! I am going to move this here blog to blogsome in the new year - blogdrive really is irritating to use, and frustrating at times to get to load. So off to another provider I go. This blog will stay here fawevah though!

I have new yarn for sale on ebay - 10 different colourways, including laceweight yarn, and some yummy sexy slinky alpaca. As soon as my packages arrive from Virginia Farms, I will be dyeing a whole heap more yarn as well - more sock yarn, lots of 8 ply, and more alpaca. Colourway suggestions are welcome!

First up I have to say that my Sockret pal is SPOILING ME TO PIECES but my bad mojo with computers continues. A few months ago, I snapped the powercord on my Dell. So I had to go to using my Fujitsu, which I'd bought a few years ago as a travelling laptop. But about a week ago, the wireless card and the speakers went on the fritz and so my baby laptop was of no use to me, as this ALSO meant that even the network cable was petulantly refusing to play nice. So for a week I was sans computer except for the small bits my sweetpea let me have on his computer. (As an aside yes I'll have to buy a... (more)

December reading

Hi guys! It's early December so I thought I'd suggest some reading for
those of us with time on our hands ;).

YARNmagazine - Issue 5 has come out! It's a fantastic read and there's a great selection of ads in there if you're searching for something for a knitter for Christmas. My itty bitty ad is in there too this issue!

Magknits has come out with a great selection this month! This magazine is a monthly online one you can read at your leisure! Lots of great patterns in the archives as well.

Knitty is yet to come out with its winter edition but I love to read the whole thing when it does... (more)

Bendigo Mills website

I have started a petition to encourage Bendigo Mills to get a website - please go here and sign it and share it with your friends so that we can show our beloved yarn supplier how seriously we want it!

"Australian knitters are putting out the call - we want our favourite
yarn vendor to get a website! We have been hearing for years that they
are building a website and so this petition has been started to count
the number of knitters who WANT that website up, now!

Just a website to point people to would vastly improve the access
knitters in this country have to some of the BEST yarns... (more)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Christmas is a great time of the year - it's hot, it's sunny, and it's fun. But for me, there's not much Christ or Mass in the whole season, and it's not really what I celebrate for christmas.

Last night, my local knitting group had an early christmas-kind of meet. I arranged simple crackers (it's my tradition to find the cheapest ones possible because they've got the WORST jokes in them!!) and a package swap as well and people were openly thanking me for going to the effort. I love christmas when it's like that - lots of people I like, and fun things to eat and knit. I was cultivating... (more)

If you take some yarn and make a swatch:

and a new bag that I love but loved so much I got one for Osk as well,

and a need to differentiate them, and voila!

I've been busy this week so here are some photos to show you!

Nephews!!

Jensen!!

Dyeing - well, knitting anyway. I knit up the yarns that I've been dyeing so you can see what the colours look like! They've all been relisted on eBay as well for sale this week.

I've also been dyeing to order, and knitting fun things for a friend whose mum was out of action due to a broken arm.

And in other news, my ISE pal received her pal and she said this (relating to this scarf):

Hi Em,What a beautiful, utterly beautiful scarf you have gifted me with ! I never would... (more)

No longer a Noro virgin! and other exc iting tales from the craft fair

I went to the Quilt and Craft fair last weekend. Normally I'd be waxing lyrical but really

- what is the deal with scrapbooking?
- why is scary faux feathers and other novelty yarn so darn popular?
- why do people insist on eating around craft things?????
- yes really, I knit. Even at my age.
- again, what is the deal with scrapbooking???
- why was the fair mostly quilting, scrapbooking and stamping, with 3 yarn stalls and a few bead stalls?

We need a fibre show like this one.

Anyway, my haul included a heap of very cute beads,

AND my first evah Noro:

Now to work out what... (more)

If anyone went to the Quilt and craft fairl on the weekend, I hope you had fun! I certainly did! Watch out for my next post of things I bought there!

I sold some of my hand dyed yarns, and had some enquiries about them as well for retail sale which is really exciting. My stuff is upon eBay at the moment if you want any of this for Christmas knitting or so on!

Top to bottom, left to right:
Flamma flamma, wildflowers, roses, mermaidal, autumnal, lavendula lite, lavendula, greentini, irises

I will shortly be putting up another 4 patterns that I've written and made things from but... (more)
